Formerly the Director for the SMC division of Bechstein Pianofortefabrik for the United States and Canada, Sally Phillips was involved in the marketing, sales and technical services. She tuned and prepared Bechstein concert pianos for such prestigious concert venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and Alice Tully Hall in New York.
Sally Phillips has presented clinics on regulation and voicing for piano technical conventions and seminars on the national and regional levels as well as consulting for manufacturers on operational procedures, marketing and sales.
Trained originally at the North Bennett Street School in Boston, Sally Phillips further expanded her knowledge of concert work in New York and Germany. During her years in New York she tuned for professional recording studios, Towne Hall, and Broadway productions. During her career she has tuned for noted pianists such as Konrad Wolfe, Stephen Hough, Murray Perahia, Frank Levy, Andre Watts, Vladamir Feltsman, Michael Chertock, Barry Douglas, Sandra Rivers, Steven Mayer, Joseph Kalichstein and Stevie Wonder.
Ms. Phillips was the Steinway dealer in Cincinnati, Ohio and was involved in the rebuilding of many Steinway grands during her career as well as serving on the Board of Trustees for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and as President of the CSO Volunteer Association.
She now lives on her horse farm with her husband in Lexington, Kentucky.
